KIPP Capital Region offers a competitive salary ranging from $42,000 - $48,022.
Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP Capital Region will evaluate and determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale at point of hire.

Position Overview

Duties/Responsibilities
Student Supervision & Environment Management
- Supervise and monitor students assigned to ISS, ensuring a safe, structured, and productive environment.
- Enforce ISS expectations, school rules, and behavior guidelines consistently and respectfully.
- Communicate appropriate behavior and expectations daily to students in the program.
- Escort students during breaks/lunch and monitor hallways as needed.
- De-escalate challenging situations and mediate conflicts to appropriate resolution.
- Maintain an environment conducive to learning and positive behavior.
- Ensure students receive and complete all required academic assignments during their ISS placement.
- Provide instructional assistance or clarification as needed.
- Request or assign supplemental work when students complete their classroom assignments early.
- Serve as a liaison between students and classroom teachers, collecting and returning academic materials promptly.
- Support students in developing productive study habits, organizational skills, and a positive attitude toward learning.
- Assist in partnership with the Director of Student Support Services to ensure students with IEPs, 504s, and behavior plans have the support necessary to succeed.
- Guide students through restorative reflection processes to help them understand the impact of their choices.
- Support students in developing better conduct, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills.
- Facilitate re-entry meetings to ensure students return to class prepared and supported.
- Promote positive behavior through coaching, modeling, and clear expectations.
- Support implementing positive school investment systems that provide consistent rewards and consequences for student behavior.
- Help students adjust, learn, socialize, and report to teachers about possible behavioral issues.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, school leadership, counselors, and other staff regarding student progress, behavior, and needs.
- Maintain open communication with parents/guardians as appropriate, sharing updates on student behavior or concerns.
- Report incidents of inappropriate behavior to school leadership promptly.
- Maintain accurate daily attendance records for students assigned to ISS.
- Track student assignments, progress, and behavior throughout their ISS placement.
- Prepare and maintain ISS materials, logs, and documentation in alignment with school policies.
- Provide behavior and progress data to appropriate school stakeholders as needed.
- Assist with administrative tasks, preparing materials, and maintaining organization of the ISS room.
- Implement and uphold school wide policies and procedures for the ISS program.
- Support school wide behavior systems and culture initiatives as requested.
- Support the implementation and oversight of after school detentions.
- Perform other duties as outlined by School Leadership.

- Complies with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including the NYS Department of Education, Department of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. High School Diploma/GED required.
- Previous experience working with school aged children, particularly in a regular or special education setting, is highly preferred.
- Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
- Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.
