KION Pediatrics is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to provide exceptional care to infants, children, adolescents, and their families. The Pediatric APRN will provide comprehensive primary care services, including wellness visits, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, preventive care, and patient and family education. The ideal candidate will work closely with physicians and clinical staff to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care while building lasting relationships with patients and families
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and health assessments for pediatric patients, including infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Office Practicum to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations including laboratory tests, sonography, and medical imaging; interpret results to guide treatment decisions.
- Manage acute care situations such as airway management.
- Engage in telehealth consultations to extend pediatric care services remotely while maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality.
- Provide education on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication administration, disease management, and developmental milestones for children with special needs or disabilities.
Qualifications
- Valid APRN license (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner).
- Proven experience working with children across diverse healthcare environments including hospital medicine, emergency room settings, ICU (including PICU), neonatal units, or outpatient clinics.
- Critical care experience; familiarity with Level I/II trauma centers highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Office Practicum, Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation and patient management.
- Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology, anatomy, pharmacology including CPT coding for procedures and ICD coding for diagnoses.
- Ability to handle complex cases involving behavioral health issues, pain management strategies, infectious disease care including immunizations and infection control protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education sessions, discharge planning and family counseling.
- Additional skills such as working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs are a plus; familiarity with Workers' Compensation law or hospice & palliative medicine is beneficial but not required.
