What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steel Welder - Co-Op position at kinsleysteel?
SUMMARY
The Co-Op Welder performs structural steel welding operations in accordance with approved welding procedures, shop drawings, and quality requirements. This position is responsible for producing consistent, high-quality welds while maintaining safety, productivity, and housekeeping standards.
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform welding on structural steel components.
- Read and interpret basic fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
- Follow approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Complete fit-up verification prior to welding.
- Perform basic equipment setup and maintenance.
- Maintain production quality and throughput standards.
- Follow all safety requirements and PPE guidelines.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be enrolled in an approved PA Technical School Co-Op Program.
- Must be able to pass a 3G weld test with 1/16th flux core wire and have applicable experience with D1.1 codes and 2G/3G experience.
- Experience operating overhead cranes.
- Have a willingness to learn.
- Ability to interpret fabrication and construction drawings.
