We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fleet Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, and industrial machinery to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on fleet vehicles including trucks, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery using schematics and electronic diagnostic tools.
- Conduct repairs on mechanical systems such as transmissions, suspensions, hydraulics, brakes, shocks & struts, and electrical systems to ensure safety and compliance with industry standards.
- Fabricate or modify parts as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used in accordance with company policies.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues involving diesel engines, HVAC systems, air brakes, alignments, and automotive electrical systems with precision.
- Assist in heavy equipment operation during maintenance tasks requiring heavy lifting or specialized handling.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry best practices while providing exceptional customer service to internal teams.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience working with heavy equipment repair or automotive diagnostics in a dealership or industrial setting.
- Strong background in heavy truck repair including diesel engine repair, powertrain systems, and vehicle electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and farm machinery.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scanners, and other specialized equipment efficiently.
- Previous experience working with Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery brands is preferred.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with customer service skills to support fleet operations effectively.
