Kinnaman’s Auto Repair is a locally owned, family-operated automotive repair shop committed to honesty, quality repairs, and long-term customer relationships. We are currently seeking a motivated Service Writer / Service Advisor to join our growing team.

This position is critical to our success. The Service Writer serves as the primary point of contact for our customers and is responsible for selling recommended services and repairs based on technician inspections and the customer’s needs, goals, and priorities—while delivering an outstanding customer experience.

Salary Range: $41,600 - $52,000

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

• Present and sell recommended maintenance and repair services using Kinnaman’s Auto Repair guidelines and best practices
• Clearly explain technician findings and repair options in a way customers can understand
• Build trust and long-term relationships through honest, professional communication
• Manage customer expectations regarding timelines, pricing, and vehicle needs
• Daily scheduled follow up with customers to keep them informed of the status of repairs

Secondary Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in person, over the phone, and via email
• Answer customer questions and address concerns professionally
• Create estimates and invoices using company systems and procedures
• Assist with parts ordering, returns, and repair dispatching using company systems and procedures
• Support daily shop workflow to ensure smooth and efficient operation

Additional Duties

• Checking customers in and out
• Picking up parts IF needed
• Light cleaning or other tasks needed to maintain shop flow and customer experience

Minimum Qualifications

• Sales Experience: Minimum of 1 year of sales experience in any industry or a demonstrated ability to sell
• Organization & Focus: Ability to stay organized and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
• Computer Skills:
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based computers
  • Ability to type or dictate at least 30 words per minute
  • Comfortable using email, word processing, and basic spreadsheet programs
• Communication Skills:
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • Comfortable speaking with customers by phone and in person
• Math Skills:
  • Ability to perform basic math using a calculator

Physical Requirements

• Ability to get in and out of various vehicles without assistance
• Ability to safely drive a motor vehicle with passengers (valid driver’s license required)
