About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Grinding Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail‐oriented, and enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Metal grinding requires both technical ability and an eye for detail — if you enjoy producing high‐quality finished sawblades, we’d love to meet you.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor grinding and polishing machines used to process metal workpieces, including HSS and carbide saw blade teeth.
- Dress and mount grinding wheels according to specifications and job requirements.
- Monitor machine operations, making adjustments as needed; stop machines when issues arise.
- Inspect and measure workpieces using tools such as micrometers, gauges, and scales to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Remove finished parts and properly rack, box, or set aside defective pieces.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacing worn or damaged machine parts.
- Calculate angles, widths, and measurements to achieve precise cuts and finishes.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to evaluate machine performance and product quality.
- Ability to identify proper tools, equipment, and materials needed for each job.
- Skilled in monitoring gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure proper machine operation.
- Proficient in using logic, reasoning, and problem-solving skills to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Capable of learning and applying new techniques or teaching others when needed.
- Ability to perform and recognize when equipment requires routine maintenance.
- Effective coordination with team members and ability to adjust work actions based on others’ needs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (required).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Metal grinding experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to work with measurements down to .001" increments.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and work independently.
- Must understand the safety considerations of a metal grinding environment.
