Kinkead & Stilz, a growing law firm with 36 attorneys across four Kentucky offices, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our litigation practice group. This role provides direct support to attorneys across active litigation matters, with primary responsibility for case management, discovery, document preparation, and court support. The ideal candidate brings a strong litigation foundation and the organizational discipline to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage litigation case files from inception through resolution, including organizing records, tracking deadlines, and maintaining documentation that is current and accessible.
- Conduct and manage all phases of discovery, including document collection, review, and production. Prepare and respond to discovery requests -- interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Draft, review, and revise litigation documents including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, briefs, and settlement agreements under attorney supervision.
- Perform legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar tools to support motions, briefs, and case strategy.
- Assist with trial preparation including organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and coordinating with witnesses. Attend court proceedings as needed.
- Maintain familiarity with Kentucky state and local court procedures, filing requirements, and deadlines across relevant jurisdictions.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on case status, document collection, and general inquiries, ensuring timely and professional communication throughout.
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings, and support overall workflow across active matters.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, or completion of an accredited paralegal certification program.
- 3 years of paralegal experience with a meaningful focus on litigation, civil procedure, and trial support.
- Experience with electronic discovery processes and e-discovery software.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms (Westlaw, LexisNexis) and document management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
- Medical malpractice or personal injury litigation experience is a strong plus; candidates with strong litigation fundamentals will be considered.
- Based in Lexington, KY.
