A Field Technician III is a senior-level technician responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment, vehicles, or machinery in the field. This role requires advanced mechanical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently on complex equipment issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy equipment and vehicles
- Perform advanced troubleshooting using diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals
- Conduct preventative maintenance and major component repairs (engines, transmissions, hydraulics, etc.)
- Respond to field service calls and perform repairs on-site to minimize equipment downtime
- Inspect equipment to identify potential failures and recommend corrective actions
- Mentor and support Level 1 and Level 2 technicians
- Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and company procedures
- Accurately document work performed, parts used, and service reports
- Coordinate with supervisors and parts departments to ensure efficient job completion
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience working on heavy equipment, diesel engines, or similar machinery
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
- Valid driver’s license (CDL may be preferred depending on company)
- Ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding environments
