Salary: $99,054.00 - $119,343.00 (commensurate with documented experience)

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Assistant Superintendent of Support Programs shall have a Master’s Degree, Administrator’s Certificate, TEA Teacher Certification, and five years Campus and Central Office administrative experience, preferred.

Parent Community Outreach/Public Relations

School Resource Officers

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Instructional Management

  • Encourages and supports the development and implementation of innovative instructional materials to meet student learning needs.
  • Is effective in involving instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet the student learning needs.
  • Facilitates the use of existing technology in the teaching/learning process.
  • Coordinate intervention/enrichment programs.
  • Assists in selecting state-adopted textbooks and other instructional materials.
  • Plans, implements, and coordinates staff development to improve and expand skills.
  • Secures consultants, specialists and other community resources for Professional Development and training.
  • Plans the necessary time, resources, and materials to support the accomplishment of education goals.
  • Ensures that District goals and objectives are developed using collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques when appropriate.
  • Obtains and uses evaluative findings as it pertains to student achievement data.
  • Supervise and evaluate the Early College/CTE Administrator.
  • Ensures that goals and objectives are met for College, Career, Military Readiness.
  • Oversees Advances Academics and provides testing support (TSI, AP, SAT).
  • Track and monitor to ensure CCMR status of all high school students.
Oversees DAEP, CARES, CAT, and DAT.

  • School Safety:
  • Supervise and evaluate the School Resource Officers.
  • Coordinates School Safety with the Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, and other local organizations.
  • Facilities the annual School Safety audit.
  • Facilities campus fire drills, shelter in place drills, and other campus safety regulations.
  • Prepares active shooter training and other safety professional developments for all staff.
  • Plans and implements programs and activities to reduce school violence.
  • Creates, implements the Emergency Operations Plan.
Leads the district safety team.

  • Federal Programs:

  • Plans, implements, evaluates all Title programs.
  • Completes the application and budgets for all federal grants.
  • Submits compliance reports for all federals programs.
  • Ensures that federal and state laws and regulations concerning the education of Title program students are observed.
  • Ensures that support services for Title Program students are effective in achieving their objectives.
  • Ensures that all private schools are contacted for Title services to students and for input into federal applications.

School/Organizational Climate:

  • Uses surveys and feedback from others to maintain or create a positive school climate.
    • Demonstrates high expectations of students and staff.

32. Ensures that goals and objectives for school climate are developed with the involvement of specialists, teachers, parents, and/or students, when appropriate.

33. Communicates effectively with staff, students, parents, and the community.

34. Relates to staff, students, and parents in ways that convey equality and mutual respect.

35. Demonstrates skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, teachers, staff, and/or the community.

36. Responds appropriately to situations that could impair the teaching/learning process or could threaten safety and the well being of students and staff.

  • School/Organizational Improvement:

37. Serves in an advisory capacity to local campuses in the development and implementation of their campus improvement plans and provides Executive Summaries.

38. Works cooperatively with others in developing the mission and articulating a vision for the school/district program.

39. Systematically monitors school improvement activities or program activities.

40. Uses evaluative findings to determine the extent to which goals and objectives are met.

41. Demonstrates appropriate use of student achievement data in interpreting, reporting, and acting on results.

42. Actively supports the efforts of others to achieve District goals and objectives and the Campus Performance Objectives (Academic Excellence Indicators).

  • Contributes to District Wide School Improvement.

VI. Personnel Management

44. Uses effective methods in the recruitment, screening, selections, assignment, and orientation of faculty and staff (when such responsibilities are part of his/her assignment).

45. Assists District in developing other teacher appraisal methods to improve teacher effectiveness.

46. Conferences regularly with assigned staff to discuss performance; jointly develop improvement objectives to identify professional growth opportunities.

47. Demonstrates skill in “coaching” staff, provides technical assistance to principals, teachers and staff concerning the teaching/learning process, and encourages improved overall classroom performance.

48. Secures consultants, specialists, and other community resources for principals and supervised instructional staff to assist in attaining objectives.

49. Uses the mission of the school district, program evaluation outcomes, input from teachers and others to provide effective Professional Development.

VII. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management

50. Implements the policies established by federal law, state law, state board of education rule, and the local board policy in the area(s) supervised.

51. Offers constructive suggestions to ensure that policies and regulations support the teaching learning process.

52. Defines the program and fiscal needs in the budget development process, ensuring that fiscal resources address the mission of the school (District).

53. Demonstrates responsible fiscal control over assigned program budgets.

54. Analyzes facility and equipment needs for optimum teaching and learning; utilizes information to make necessary changes or adjustments.

  • Collects and distributes open records request.
Annually updates policy handbooks.

VIII. Student Management

57. Ensures that pupil/personnel services are effective in supporting the teaching/learning process.

58. Annually updates the student code of conduct.

IX. Professional Growth and Development

59. Utilizes information provided through formal and informal assessment data and a professional growth plan to improve professional skills and knowledge.

60. Participates in professional development programs leading to improved job performance.

61. Actively seeks and utilizes evaluative feedback from peers, subordinates, and super ordinates regarding his/her performance.

62. Develops, uses, and evaluates ideas and/or innovative approaches to improve his/her job performance.

63. Participates in professional organizations, disseminates ideas and information to other professionals, and provides leadership in identifying trends and opportunities, as well as solving problems facing the profession.

64. Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for educators.

X. School/Community Relations

65. Responsible for Parental Involvement including students, parents, and others from the community in serving the school’s program as volunteers, advisors, and aides.

66. Communicates district curriculum, instructional practices, accomplishments, goals, and new directions to parents and the community; solicits their input on these instructional issues.

67. Work with civic groups/organizations on programs/projects pertaining

to parenting.

  • Promote positive relations with the community, university, and other

school personnel in regards to parenting.

  • Keep data for audit monitoring purposes.
  • Maintain Accurate Time and Effort Records and/or Semi-Annual

Certifications supporting federal funding of salary.

Supervise and evaluate the Family Community Outreach/Public Relations

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as needed; moderate lifting and carrying. Attend out of town meetings.
