ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Definition: Under immediate supervision will perform unskilled and semi-skilled labor in the maintenance, construction, or installation of streets, bridges, drainage structure, water and sewer systems, and traffic control devices. Participates in any other related work as required or assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
Loads and unloads trucks
Operates a variety of motorized equipment including tractor and trucks, use a variety of power tools. ns streets and alleys, cuts and removes brush, grass, timber, and other debris from streets, drainage structures, and other city property.
Participates in repairing streets, spreads asphalt and gravel, sets flares and erects barricades, directs traffic at work sites, paints and installs traffic markings.
Responsible for maintenance and minor repair of equipment.
Uses good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly.
Works in trenches and confined spaces serves on standby crew for after hour emergency work as required, does minor carpentry work, painting and concrete work.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of city, state, federal regulations pertaining to the operation of equipment in public spaces. Proper techniques and uses of a variety of hand tools and power tools.
Knowledge of mechanical, proper care and skillful/safe operation of equipment.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, read addresses, directions, and signs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Six months experience in using hammer, saw, screwdriver, wrench, shovels, drills, power saw.
PREFERENCE:
One year of general maintenance preferred.

Possession of Valid Driver’s License

All City employees are required in the course and scope of their employment to provide services for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of Kingsville citizens. City employees must be able to work immediately before, during, and/or immediately after an emergency in accordance with the City of Kingsville Emergency Services Policy No. 881 effective August 28, 2006.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds; push, pull and/or drag up to 150 pounds of equipment and /or materials; climbs, crawls, kneels, squats, stoops, stands, sits, and bends when driving or maintaining equipment; hear and see clearly when working around equipment or in traffic. Works outdoors in extreme temperatures and inclement weather with some exposure to dust, fumes, noise, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards while using proper safety precautions.
