JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Parenting Liaison (Middle & High School)
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. At least 60 college credit hours (Associate degree equivalent)
- Previous experience working in an educational setting, social work, or community organization focusing on family advocacy is highly preferred
- Must successfully pass mandatory South Carolina state criminal background checks, child abuse registries, and background clearances required to work around minors
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

JOB PURPOSE: |
To empower families as active partners in their student's middle school and secondary education by breaking down systemic, cultural, and communication barriers between home and school. To maximize student graduation rates and post-secondary success by equipping families with the specific tools, data access (PowerSchool), and resources required to navigate the complex academic, social, and emotional transitions of adolescence.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS
- Family Engagement & Community Outreach
- Event Coordination: Plan, implement, and promote workshops, community events, and family orientation sessions.
- Title I Support: Deliver Title I program information, educate parents on their parental rights, and involve them in school improvement and plan review processes.
- Partnership Building: Collaborate with local community groups, parent advisory councils, and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to secure resources and build community support and involvement.
- Home-School Connection: Assist with direct home-school communication.
- Parent Education & Support
- Skill Development: Offer workshops and materials that teach parenting skills, literacy training, curriculum resources, and instructional technology strategies to support student learning at home.
- Resource Referral: Connect families with interagency assistance, specialized support, and community resources to address behavioral, emotional, or logistical student needs.
- Administrative & Operational Assistance
- Registration Support: Assist parents with the student enrollment process by distributing forms, online support, and validating required entry documentation.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, organize, and support volunteers for school activities and programs.
- Parenting Office Support: Handle daily routine operations, including maintaining filing systems, processing mail, contacting parents, and answering parent phone inquiries.
- Staff Support: Provide training to school staff and principals regarding optimal parent outreach and engagement frameworks.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of personnel.
Salary : $16,000 - $32,844
