Long Term Substitute Teaching Assistant

Title: Long Term Substitute Teacher Assistant General Position Description: Assist in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the classroom students curriculum goals and instructional programs while representing KHA in a positive and professional manner. Essential Functions: -Demonstrate a level of professionalism in communication & collaboration among members of the school community: -Demonstrate an understanding of school policies and procedures -Exhibit attributes of reliable attendance, promptness and dependability -Use a cooperative approach -Respect confidentiality and other professional ethics -Exhibit sensitivity and understanding of individual and cultural differences -Provide an appropriate role model for children -Use effective communication skills Instructional Opportunities: -Use appropriate strategies and techniques developed by teachers and other professional staff to support individual student needs -Assist the teacher in planning, modification, and implementation of curriculum, instruction and assessment -Demonstrate an understanding of, and respect for, cultural diversity Support learning environments/behavior: -Follow discipline guidelines in accordance with school policy and legal requirements -Implement positive behavioral supports -Maintain and monitor compliance with classroom rules, procedures and behavior standards -Motivate and assist students in acquiring interpersonal skills, increased self-esteem and independence Exhibit knowledge of health, safety and emergency procedures: -Demonstrate knowledge of universal health care precautions -Participate in sustaining a clean, healthy and safe learning environment -Recognize indicators of abuse (substance, physical, sexual and emotional) and demonstrate knowledge of RI reporting laws. Professional Development Participate in professional development as required linked to: -Individual strengths, interests and needs -Student needs or program needs -Goals of the School Strategic Plan Additional Duties Job Descriptions: -Provide coverage for staff within the program at various sites during periods of short staffing, inclement weather, emergency conditions, etc. -Provide coverage/support across the school as needed including the classroom, recess, lunch and the cafeteria.Education, Experience and Special Skills: Associated Degree or successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education.

Exceptions: (1) certification as a Teacher Assistant in another state, (2) hold an associate's degree or bachelor's degree and have completed coursework or other training consistent with our State standards.

Salary : $39,884 - $51,308
