Job Summary: Assistant General Manager (Cannabis Retail)

We’re hiring a full-time Assistant General Manager who brings all the strengths of a great budtender—hospitality, product confidence, speed, compliance, and sales mindset—but is primarily focused on backend operations that keep the store running smoothly.

Working hours expectation: 40–50 hours per week (including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed).

This role is for someone who leads through the Kingston Way and our “Welcome Home” culture—Goals, Focus, Cheerful Greeting, Store Care, and "Shpeal"—while owning execution in Blaze POS, inventory, intake, ordering, promotions, and labor support. You’ll work closely with the General Manager and leadership team, with clear growth opportunities into expanded responsibility over time.

What You’ll Do (Primary Focus: Backend Ops)

Kingston Way / Floor Leadership

• Set and drive daily goals (sales, focus items, promos), maintain focus during peak hours, enforce strong greeting, spotless store care, and consistent customer service across the team.

Blaze POS

• Ring up orders efficiently; troubleshoot issues in real time
• Execute Blaze auto manual discounting correctly
• Resolve insufficient quantity situations, run inventory checks, complete room moves, and perform batch checks/moves

Inventory

• Own inventory accuracy through structured counts (category-based frequency)
• Check for updates/issues, review METRC (as applicable), and audit inventory history inventory action logs
• Clearing Blue Tags

Intake / Receiving

• Prep incoming orders by creating products, enforcing naming conventions unique IDs
• Apply pricing standards, manage non-METRC intake, and correctly intake finished goods & flower
• Double-check and modify intake for accuracy before products hit the floor

Canva / Visual Execution

• Create labels, build website/Leafly banners, and update TV artwork aligned with current promos and priorities

Ordering & Vendors

• Work with vendors and order based on sell-thru, Happy Cabbage insights (as applicable), availability/ease of replenishment, how much sold ( /- trends), THC/strain demand, and impact on financials

Promotions

• Set up promotions correctly (cart/product/tag), understand sales price vs. tag logic
• Align ecommerce/Leafly promotions and choose what to promote based on availability, bulk/check average, and aging inventory

People Leadership

• Coach budtenders with clear leadership principles: clear & concise language, win-win mindset, smart delegation vs. directing, and tracking success
• Maintain positivity, uphold culture, and support write-ups when necessary

Scheduling / Labor Support

• Schedule the right # of people per sales/tasks, monitor labor expenses/targets, use Gusto, manage coverage changes, and ensure employee availability is current

What We’re Looking For

• Retail leadership experience (cannabis/retail/hospitality preferred) with strong accuracy under pressure
• Strong tech comfort; Blaze experience is a big plus (METRC/Canva/Google Suite helpful)
• Detail-obsessed, accountable, calm under pressure, and strong at problem-solving
• Clear communicator who can coach, delegate, and follow through
• Passion for delivering a true “Welcome Home” guest experience while keeping operations tight
