POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth Sports Instructor demonstrates knowledge in various sports technique, models good behavior, maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for attendants in program classes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instructs Sports Fundamentals classes in accordance with YMCA guidelines, prepares lesson plans accordingly, and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members, program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; encourages parent or caregiver involvement.
- Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
- Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education/experience in related field preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date and Child Abuse Prevention training along with other safety training courses assigned within 10 days of hire date.
- Must be committed to and supportive of the Y mission with an emphasis on support and empathy to health seekers.
- Must be detail oriented, good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal, public relations and communication skills.
- Must have the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from various social and economic segments of the community.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be noisy at times.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
