Position Summary
The
Carrier Sales Representative is the engine of Kingsgate’s capacity network. You
will source, negotiate, and book carriers to cover customer freight across
truckload and LTL modes. Success in this role means building a deep bench of
reliable carrier partners, negotiating competitive rates, and ensuring every
load is covered, tracked, and delivered on time. This is a high-energy,
phone and email intensive role.
What You Will Do
• Build and manage a
portfolio of carrier relationships through outbound prospecting, load board
engagement, and referral development
• Negotiate rates with
carriers to secure capacity at competitive margins while maintaining service
quality
• Cover customer freight
across truckload (dry van, reefer, flatbed) and LTL modes
• Monitor shipments from
dispatch through delivery, taking proactive check calls and managing exceptions
• Coordinate with Customer
Service and Account Management teams to align capacity with customer
requirements
• Vet new carriers using
Highway, FMCSA, and internal compliance standards before onboarding
• Manage carrier
performance data including on-time rates, claims, and service scores
• Utilize McLeod
LoadMaster TMS for load entry, dispatch, tracking, and invoicing workflows
• Stay informed on market
conditions, lane rates, and capacity trends to guide pricing decisions
• Contribute to margin
improvement by identifying cost-saving routing and consolidation opportunities
Requirements
• 1–3 years of experience
in carrier sales, freight brokerage, or transportation operations (entry-level
candidates with strong sales aptitude will be considered)
• Strong negotiation
skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, phone-heavy environment
• Understanding of
truckload and LTL freight operations, equipment types, and accessorial charges
• Proficiency with TMS
platforms (McLeod preferred), load boards (DAT, Truckstop), and carrier vetting
tools
• Excellent verbal
communication and relationship-building skills
• High attention to detail
with ability to manage multiple loads simultaneously
• Self-motivated with a
competitive drive and strong work ethic
