Overview:

Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a 52 year old multi-service not-for-profit organization based on the settlement house model and located in the North West Bronx. We provide resources for Bronx residents from cradle to career to advance education and well-being for a vibrant community. KHCC serves over 6,000 families annually with an inclusive environment for children with special needs, low-income families, recent immigrants, survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, and at-risk teens. KHCC helps participants overcome adversity and develop the skills they need to build bright futures.

The Clinical Supervisor will work across our Youth Development and Changing Futures clinical teams to offer family support offerings through the Bronx Family and Youth Peer Support (FYPS) Alliance. She/he will supervise the peer advocates with the Alliance, and provide clinical supervision to therapeutic staff and interns working with our trauma treatment program. The supervisor may carry a small caseload of their own, and maintain the primary liaison role across KHCC programs, and the Bronx FYPS Alliance.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Bronx FYPS Alliance Supervisor

  • Oversee the management of all family and youth peer support services and represent KHCC at advisory committee meetings. 
  • Hire, direct, and supervise FYPS staff, including 1 Peer Youth Advocate, and 1 Family Youth Advocate. 
  • Plan and coordinate FYPS services and quality improvement and monitor program budget. 
  • Support the use of data systems to assure quality, and analyze data to strengthen program operations. 
  • Carry a partial caseload of children and adults identified as needing ongoing mental health intervention through this initiative; Collaborate with the Family Child Care Network (FCCN) and KHCC Connect teams around service coordination (referrals, advocacy, crisis intervention). Cases will be seen through the OMH satellite clinic as possible. 
  • Conduct triage on identified referrals; Determine which families are best served through non-clinical family support services, and which individuals may need a higher level of behavioral health intervention through KHCC Changing Future, or outside partner organizations. 

Changing Futures Supervising Therapist

  • Supervise a minimum of two therapists and 2 graduate level interns within the Changing Futures program; liaise with graduate program internship offices to support intern learning goals. 
  • Help coordinate annual training of staff/interns in all required therapeutic modalities (e.g. Theraplay, EMDR, TF-CBT) or requested specialty approaches such as art, horticulture, animal assisted techniques, or group curriculums for children and parents. 
  • Help support planning and implementation of community outreach, gender based violence advocacy with partner organizations, and annual events, both program specific (e.g. Sexual Assault Awareness Month) and agency wide (Neighborbood Festival).  
  • As needed - Carry a partial caseload of children, teens, and adults referred to Changing Futures for therapeutic intervention. 


Qualifications:

  • MSW, MFT, MHC or related graduate degree required 
  • LCSW preferred; LMSW or licensure in other related fields is required.
  • Seminar in Practicum Instruction (SIPI) required within 1st year of hire; Willingness to supervise up to 2 graduate level interns in addition to peer advocates and clinical staff. 
  • Bilingual Spanish strongly encouraged to apply
  • At least one year of clinical supervisory experience with children and families preferred
  • Interest in Peer Support models within behavioral health settings; Desire to mentor youth and family peer staff; Some experience with trauma treatment approaches and survivors of physical/sexual violence is helpful. 
  • Schedule may include two or three 11am-7pm work days per week; Hybrid work schedule as indicated. 


Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; handle, or feel; talk, hear, smell or taste. On rare occasions it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.


Schedule: 

  • 35 hours /week as needed Mo/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri, 10-6 or 11-7
  • Flexible scheduling; Later evening and weekend events as scheduled. 
  • Earlier and/or later shifts will be required to cover specialty offerings.
