Secondary Substitute Teacher (Grade 6-12)

General Description: King’s Way Christian Schools is a private, Christian school dedicated to serving students from 12 months through 12th grade located in beautiful Vancouver, Washington. King’s Way partners with families to provide a Christ-centered education for the whole child, leading to life change in each student.

We are currently seeking teachers interested in subbing in our Middle and High School programs for grades 6-12. Subs can determine their preferences for middle or high or by grade assignments in our online platform ReadySub. If you are interested in subbing in our Elementary School please complete an application specific to that substitute pool for consideration. Our secondary schools run on block schedules.

Our pool of substitute teachers join our dynamic teams to cover faculty absences and provide instruction, supervision, and continuity within our academic programs. As a Christian teacher, successful substitutes prayerfully assist students in learning attitudes, skills and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. S/he shall be a person of spiritual maturity and will support the core values of King’s Way Christian Schools with a demonstrated ability to inform, inspire and provide opportunities for the development and growth of students in fulfilling their purpose to worship God and impact their world for Christ. All teachers at King's Way demonstrate teachability, wisdom, integrity, pursue connection, and show resilience.

Responsibilities:

• Teach classes from prepared lesson plans; Follow lesson plans as faithfully as possible
• Oversee learning and safety of students; Maintain effective, positive classroom management
• Communicate as necessary with building office, school Principals, and teaching peers
• Review emergency information, i.e., know where exits are, understand emergency procedures
• Sign in and out with the building office upon arrival, departure for lunch, return from lunch, at the end of the day, etc
• Take and report attendance
• Guide students in development of biblical character and citizenship; Model the King's Way Statement of Faith
• Establish team relationships by partnering with parents and other staff members
• Leave the regular teacher a detailed note about the day's outcomes and any problems

Position Details:

The rate for this position is based upon certification status. Certificated subs are paid $23 / hour, and non-certificated substitutes are paid $17.50 / hour, paid in the regular semi-monthly payroll process. This position is on-call and there is no guarantee of work hours by joining the substitute pool. Depending upon assignment individuals may need to be able to frequently remain in a stationary position, or be able to constantly move about office/classroom to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc, and must be able to frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machine, computer, printer, etc

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

• Ability to use ReadySub for accepting substitute assignments and accessing lesson plans
• Must be able to constantly communicate with students/parents/other staff to convey information related to assignments and the day's agenda
• Competency in using Google suite software products (preferred)
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to maintain cooperative relationships with peers, parents, students, and other guests
• Candidates selected for this position will be required to pass a background check

Salary : $18 - $23
