 The Staff Accountant I is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and ensuring financial compliance through the preparation of fiscal reports and statements. This role includes reconciling bank statements, balancing the ledger for regular reports, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization

How will I contribute

·         Perform daily accounting and related administrative tasks to support the financial operations of the organization.

·         Accurately and timely report expenses for each assigned cost center and program, including payroll, benefits, facility, program, administrative, and other expenses.

·         Prepare monthly billing and ensure revenue is recorded accurately and timely for each assigned program or cost center.

·         Analyze general ledger records to ensure all known and expected transactions are posted before billing.

·         Monitor assigned accounts receivables to ensure timely payment collections.

·         Verify invoices are coded accurately and assist in setting up new or maintaining existing ledger accounts.

·         Reconcile assigned bank and other accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.

·         Provide assistance to external auditors by gathering necessary account information and documents for the annual audit.

·         Assist with the filing of tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.

·         Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.

·         Prepare or assist in preparing cost center and program budgets.

·         Maintain positive working relationships with grantor agencies and county officials.

·         Conduct general ledger research as needed.

·         Assist the Director of Finance with other related duties as assigned.

·         Serve as back-up to accounts payable and other accounting staff members.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program.

What I bring

• Associate degree 
• 2 years of experience in accounting or a related role
• Class C Driving License
   
• Knowledge of various compliance and reporting systems. Familiar with federal and state cost reporting requirements and funding rules and regulations affecting county contracts. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting and financial statements analysis. Fundamental knowledge of principles, theories and concepts of accounting for non-profit organizations. Knowledge and understanding of behavioral health funding involving government funding provisions of contracts and grants.
• High level of expertise with Excel and proficient with business software tools and databases. High level of competency in managing large volume of data. Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve complex accounting matters. Ability to prepare complex financial and statistical reports.
•  Must have excellent work ethic; willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially during period close and reporting cycles. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment requiring minimal supervision. Strong organization and communication skills – interpersonal and written.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics of GP preferred, bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
