Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized equipment.
- Follow planned routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, adhering to safety protocols.
- Comply with all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling procedures.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in accordance with legal requirements.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any issues promptly.
- Manage logistics cargo handling efficiently to optimize delivery routes and improve overall operational productivity.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in truck driving, including delivery driver roles involving route driving and freight transportation.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the vehicle type operated.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and confidently.
- Knowledge of truck types such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and hazardous materials regulations.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and route planning tools.
- Strong manual handling skills for loading/unloading cargo safely.
- Familiarity with FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for transporting dangerous goods.
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for truck driving and cargo handling in various environments.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance.
