Position Purpose

Key Responsibilities
Education: High School diploma or Equivalent
Certification/Licensure: BLS through the American Heart Association
Must Meet One Of The Following Criteria
☐ Has attended an approved medical assistant training program, a copy of the diploma or transcripts are on file, by one of the following:
☐ Has completed a medical services training program of the Armed Forces of the United States and a copy of that certificate is on file.
☐ Has completed an unapproved medical assistant training program and was employed as a medical assistant after program completion, prior to February of 2000.
Skills
Knowledge of and ability to use basic medical terminology
Experience: One to three years’ medical office experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Attends to the personal needs of the patients regarding obtaining accurate authorizations
- Obtain patient history and vital signs, prepare and maintain examination and treatment rooms
- Assist with examinations, procedures and treatments
- Performs CLIA waived lab tests and obtains specimens
- Performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests
- May perform venipuncture
- Document patient charts accurately
- Schedule, coordinate and monitor appointments
- Responsible for charging for technical functions, assisting the physician and nurses for all clinical requests, and maintaining all applicable KRMC policies and procedures. Included are also injections, organizing chemotherapeutic agents for the Oncology Nurses to administer, looking up authorizations, and developing moderate knowledge of chemotherapy, its side effects, and implications upon a patient population
- Maintains and facilitates communication between the patients, physician, and staff, adapting to individual’s ability to understand
- Demonstrate initiative and responsibility

- The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; or
- The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools
- National Healthcareer Association: CCMA
- American Medical Technologist: RMA
- American Association of Medical Assistants: AAMA
- National Center for Competency Testing: NCMA
- American Medical Certification Association: CMAC
