Junior Billing Clerk

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Billing Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. Duties

• Process and verify invoices using various billing software and accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, and specialized healthcare billing platforms.
• Perform data entry tasks with high accuracy, including entering billing information into spreadsheets and financial software.
• Manage accounts receivable by tracking payments, following up on overdue accounts, and reconciling discrepancies through detailed account analysis.
• Support collections account management by communicating with clients via phone or email to resolve billing issues and negotiate payment arrangements.
• Assist in preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper coding of medical procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes and ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) coding systems for healthcare billing.
• Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to client inquiries regarding billing status or account details while maintaining professional phone etiquette.

Experience

• Previous experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within public accounting or healthcare revenue cycle management.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles, financial concepts, and technical accounting practices including double entry bookkeeping and journal entries.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Excel data analysis using formulas, spreadsheets management, and creating reports for financial review purposes.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, and medical billing processes is a plus.
• Excellent analysis skills with the ability to perform account reconciliation and identify discrepancies efficiently.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and account analysis tasks.
• Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration; experience in negotiation or telemarketing is advantageous.

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
