What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineer in Training position at Kingfish Coastal Engineering & Permitting?
Hiring | Structural / Coastal Engineer in Training
Bradenton, Florida | $100,000 Starting
1 to 4 Years of Engineering Experience (no waterfront specific experience required)
Kingfish Coastal is hiring an Engineer in Training to help design docks, seawalls, marinas, and other waterfront structures along Florida’s Gulf Coast, from Tampa down to Sarasota.
No waterfront or marine-specific experience is required. Coastal structural design is a niche field, and we expect to provide significant training for someone who is motivated to develop a strong technical design skillset.
In this role, you will work directly under the Owner / P.E. and help prepare structural calculations, construction plans, and environmental permitting applications for waterfront projects. You will learn how to design structures exposed to waves, wind, corrosion, hurricanes, environmental constraints, and Florida coastal conditions.
The real benefits are:
- You will be working directly under the Owner / P.E. You will work closely with a licensed engineer and receive direct guidance on real design projects.
- The marine environment is unique, and you’ll occasionally be paid to go on a boat, which is a nice perk.
The challenging part of this role is that the work is complex at times and detail oriented. Very few engineers design marine structures because of this, but you are well compensated for the level of difficulty.
Prior boating or fishing experience is not required, but it certainly does not hurt.
Salary : $100,000
