The KLC Facilities Director oversees the operational integrity and safety of the church property, ensuring a welcoming and functional environment for all ministries and events. This leader coordinates routine maintenance, manages facility resources, and responds proactively to the needs of the church community, balancing hands-on repair work with organizational and planning responsibilities.
- They must possess a general knowledge of building maintenance, general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and custodial skills.
- Candidate must agree to and adhere to the KLC Code of conduct
- This position will report to the Elder Operations Team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Repair Services: Respond to all service calls on church property. Handle minor repairs as personal qualifications allow. Engage qualified professionals for all electrical repairs as needed (licensed skillset is preferred)
- Event Preparation: Coordinate with ministry leaders for the setup and teardown of seating, tables, etc. for all on-site events/functions.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure fire extinguishers are inspected and serviced periodically and keep service tags up to date.
- Procurement and Organization: Keep the maintenance supply room organized and stocked with items necessary for routine repairs (e.g. bulbs, trash bags, etc.).
- Auditorium Arrangement: Arrange all auditorium chairs neatly in rows on a weekly basis per the floor plan.
- Construction Projects: Participate in construction and remodeling projects as requested.
- Expenditure Approval: Approve expenditures up to $2,000 (Need to distinguish between single events and just purchasing parts, review with the Operations team items that aren’t regular bulk purchases); expenditures above this amount require Elder Operations Team Member approval.
- Invoice Review: Review all outside vendor (contractor) invoices to verify satisfactory completion of work.
- Volunteer Coordination and Utilization: Work with KLC Ministry Leaders on best ways to use volunteer help to support annual/seasonal/routine maintenance tasks.
- Budget Input: Provide input to the Elders and/or Finance Team for the annual general operating budget.
- Grounds Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness of the church buildings and grounds including management of the landscaping contractor, custodial services, etc. as outlined in their respective service contracts.
- Entrances: Ensure all church entrances are clean prior to Sunday services (e.g. free from leaves, litter, etc.).
- Preventive Maintenance: Ensure proper execution of the Preventive Maintenance Plan for all equipment on site by personally conducting inspections or by coordinating with external parties for inspections as required.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Elder Operations Team.
- Tools provision: Tools for routine maintenance duties to be provided by the church and will remain at the church as property of the church (will not be for personal use).
Preventive Maintenance Plan
- Facility Inspections: Conduct weekly inspections of the church premises to identify areas of need or concern and make or schedule repairs as required. Proactively recommend repair or replacement of facility items with final approval from the Elder Operations Team.
- Vendor (contractor) Coordination: Contact and coordinate with outside vendors (contractor) for inspections, repairs, and services, ensuring competitive and fair pricing. Consult with the Elder Operations Team when services/repairs exceed $2,000. (Need to distinguish between single events and just purchasing parts, review with the Operations team items that aren’t regular bulk purchases)
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized records of all equipment maintenance on the premises.
- Schedule of work and progress tracking: Utilize Operations team system of logging and tracking progress and upcoming repairs or service to be done as a result of facility inspections. Need visibility of priorities chosen.
- Will use church system for tracking hours worked by location
- Regular facility maintenance schedule needs to be visible as to timing and frequency (cleaning, landscaping, etc.)
