What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant position at Kingdom East Unified Union School District?
The Kingdom East School District is hiring two full time Speech Language Pathologist Assistants (SLPAs). The SLPA assists speech-language pathologists in the assessment and treatment of speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. They implement speech and language programs or activities as planned and directed by speech-language pathologists. They monitor the use of alternative communication devices and systems.
The SLPA works under the strict guidelines of speech/language therapy through the direction of the licensed speech/language pathologist (SLP) and adheres to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Code of Ethics for SLPAs. The SLPA provides clinical interventions that provide language skills designed to increase students abilities to express and receive language necessary to access the general learning environment. Candidates must successfully complete the ParaPro assessment or have an associates or higher degree and complete required SLPA training. The SLPA provides observable student data that meets classroom goals or the IEP Program goals of students with developmental delay and/or other special needs.
Position will target goal-directive services to assist students in accessing instruction in a developmentally appropriate, functional and independent manner. Background check, including fingerprinting required upon employment. Ability to drive between assigned locations during the school day is required. The pay range for this position is $20.28-$27.78/hr.
The Kingdom East School District is located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have choice and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choosing.
We are located about 3 hours from Montreal, Boston and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Both Littleton, NH and St.
