Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten Lead Teacher

Hours: Up to 40 hours per week August 24, 2026 - June 16, 2027

Pay Rate: $16.50/hour

Position Summary

The Lead Teacher provides Christ-centered instruction in a nurturing, safe, and engaging classroom environment that promotes students' academic, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical development. The teacher integrates a biblical worldview throughout all instruction and classroom activities while planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, collaborating with families and colleagues, and modeling Christ-like character. This position also supports students with diverse learning needs and fosters a classroom culture where every child is encouraged to reach their God-given potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited postsecondary institution.
• Experience teaching preschool or elementary-aged students preferred.
• Experience with Christian school curriculum and philosophy preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including IEP implementation is preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Google Workspace, Word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet use, and online educational platforms.
• Familiarity with grading, attendance, and lesson-planning preferred.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification.

Essential ResponsibilitiesSpiritual Leadership

• Integrate biblical truth throughout curriculum, classroom activities, and daily interactions.
• Model Christian values, integrity, and biblical conflict resolution, including the Matthew 18 principle.
• Encourage students' spiritual growth through instruction, relationships, and example.
• Participate in staff prayer, devotions, chapel, and other spiritual activities.

Instruction & Curriculum

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons using approved curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, developmental, and learning needs of all students.
• Incorporate literacy, mathematics, technology, creative learning experiences, field trips, guest speakers, and other instructional resources as appropriate.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials that support the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
• Prepare lesson plans and substitute teacher materials as needed.
• Utilize homework appropriately to reinforce learning.

Classroom Environment & Student Development

• Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, nurturing, and Christ-centered classroom.
• Clearly communicate classroom expectations and consistently implement positive behavior management practices.
• Foster respect, responsibility, kindness, collaboration, and a sense of belonging.
• Actively supervise and engage with students throughout the school day.
• Select developmentally appropriate activities that promote student growth and independence.
• Support students with diverse learning needs by implementing accommodations, interventions, and IEPs when applicable.

Assessment & Communication

• Assess student learning through formal and informal methods.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grades, progress reports, and student records.
• Monitor academic, behavioral, and developmental progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Maintain ongoing communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and collaborate with families, therapists, and specialists as appropriate.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Collaborate with faculty, administration, specialists, and support staff to enhance student success.
• Mentor assistant teachers or classroom aides when applicable.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, in-service training, and school improvement initiatives.
• Support a collaborative, positive team culture.

School Community

• Represent King's Way professionally within the school and community.
• Participate in school events, chapel, committees, extracurricular activities, field trips, and other assigned duties.
• Follow school policies, state regulations, emergency procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and actively engage with students throughout the day.
• Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Participate in classroom activities, outdoor play, and physical supervision of students.
• Respond appropriately during emergencies and follow all health and safety procedures.

Work Schedule

• Up to 40 hours per week during the academic year.
• Regular attendance during scheduled school hours, staff meetings, professional development, and required school events.

Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour
