Our client is expanding their national footprint within the Construction E&S market and is seeking an experienced Construction Underwriting Leader to help drive the growth and evolution of their commercial programs. In this role, you’ll be working closely with Executive Leadership in underwriting profitable General Liability, Excess, and Umbrella business, negotiate with wholesale brokers, and shape underwriting tools, rating logic, and program strategy. Responsibilities
- Underwrite construction-focused GL, Excess, Property, and Inland Marine accounts nationwide, ensuring risks are appropriately classified and competitively priced.
- Review incoming submissions to assess exposure, determine eligibility, and establish coverage terms, conditions, and rate recommendations.
- Assist in designing and enhancing rating models, underwriting tools, and procedural guidelines to support new and existing program initiatives.
- Partner with internal teams on system configuration to ensure underwriting rules, logic, and workflows function cohesively within platform requirements.
- Cultivate strong broker relationships and effectively negotiate renewal and new business opportunities within the construction segment.
- Handle a steady flow of submissions while delivering accurate work and meeting service expectations and turnaround timelines.
- Track book performance, identify trends, and provide strategic input on underwriting approach, pricing, and appetite adjustments.
Qualifications
- 7 - 10 years of Commercial underwriting experience, with a strong focus on Construction risks (GL and/or Excess/Umbrella).
- Proven production underwriting or marketing experience with the ability to generate and maintain strong broker relationships.
- Strong analytical and technical underwriting skills, especially in evaluating complex construction exposures.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- $200,000 - $400,000 Total Compensation (lucrative STIP and LTIP bonuses)
