What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Starter/ Marshal position at King's Grant Golf & Country?
King's Grant Golf & Country in Fayetteville, NC is looking for two golf course starter/ marshal to join our team. We are located on 347 Shawcroft Road.
The Golf course starter is one of the most visible employees of the facility. This position is tasked with providing customers with service regarding tee times, tee time coordination, rules, pace of play, and policies of the course. Due to the nature of the position, the starter must be pleasant but firm at the same time. Can not be argumentative but be supporter of the club and fair play for each golfer.
Reports To: Head Pro/ Assistant Pro
This position works with: Golf Staff

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
- Operate the starter's position with highest professional manner.
- Assure orderly flow of play in accordance with the posted tee times.
- Rotate players as needed to ensure rate of play.
- Promote the course and events.
- Provide welcoming first contact with each golfer while promoting and enforcing proper golf etiquette and attire.
- Check in with golf staff to discern any special instructions for the day's tee sheet.
- Monitor and coordinate throughout the shift for any changes to tee sheet.
- Assist with keeping course clean, bring any issues to the attention of the golf staff.
- During down times of the tee sheet ride the course to ensure rate of play is as it should be
- Handle any issues with rate of play as communicated by golf staff.
Experience, Skills and Traits:
- Knowlege of golf and some experience with the rules of golf and golf courses
- Act as a role model and ambassador for the course.
- Excellent Oral Communication skills
- Patient, non-combative, level headed in possible tense situations
- Organized and able to manage time well
- Standing or walking for periods of time may be needed.
Qualifications
- Past experience in golf as marshal or starter positions is desired but not necessary.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Flexible schedule and early hours
