Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of heavy equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and clamp trucks, to efficiently handle materials and support shipping and receiving operations. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse procedures, safety standards, and mechanical knowledge to ensure smooth and safe warehouse operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse
- Pick and fulfill orders accurately using RF scanners and warehouse management systems
- Assist with shipping & receiving processes, including verifying shipments and preparing items for dispatch
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely, adhering to OSHA guidelines and safety protocols
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs
- Support warehouse distribution activities such as order picking, materials handling, and inventory management
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflow and maintain safety standards
- Assist in the training of new team members on equipment operation and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and other heavy equipment in a warehouse or construction environment
- Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and materials handling
- Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor equipment issues
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and order picker technology
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently for extended periods
- Warehouse or distribution center experience preferred; previous supervisor experience is a plus
- Valid certification for forklift operation preferred but not required; training can be provided for qualified candidates
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills for order picking and shipping/receiving tasks
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
