JOB SUMMARY

Assists the Medical technologist in the Chemistry/Microbiology/Hematology Departments when possible.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
-
Responsible for specimen preparation, identification of specimen and request, separation of samples, cells from plasma, and work organization.

Assist Medical technologists in daily work where and when possible, by processing samples and placing prepared samples on the analyzers, but cannot release results.
-
Answers telephone promptly and professionally.
-
Begins quality control studies according to established protocols, by placing the quality control materials on the analyzers, but cannot release quality control results.

Reports malfunction of equipment and/or computer to technologists or Supervisor immediately.

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirement:
-
Minimum requirement: Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or maintains enrollment and satisfactory standing in an accredited Medical Laboratory Science program.
