Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Coordinator to oversee daily operations within our dynamic food service environment. This role ensures safe preparation and distribution of CACFP and USDA-compliant food items to classrooms in accordance with local and state health requirements. The coordinator supports the health and well-being of children by maintaining a clean, sanitary and efficient kitchen environment. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Hours: 7:30am - 3:00pm; 30 minute break provided
Duties
- Follow all CACFP guidelines.
- Connect daily with CACFP Site Manager regarding needs of CACFP program.
- Submit daily meal counts to food vendor.
- Ensure that all food deliveries arrive according to the CACFP menu.
- Investigates and resolves food quality and service complaints.
- Completes necessary paperwork, including cleaning and temperature logs.
- Prepares and serves food in compliance with state and local health statutes and requirements.
- Prepares meals according to classroom portion size in a timely manner.
- Prepare meals for classroom distribution and ensure timely delivery according to meal service times.
- Follow all allergy and dietary accommodation instructions provided by administration.
- Transports food from kitchen area to classrooms and assist in serving meals to table.
- Sorts and removes trash and places it in designated pickup areas.
- Keep the kitchen, food preparation area and all eating supplies clean and sanitary. Adhere to the guidelines of food sanitation and safe food handling practices set by the Department of Public Health.
- Wash, clean, sanitize and disinfect kitchen area, dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment and appliances using approved sanitation methods.
- Ensure that the kitchen is fully stocked with items for the next day.
- Monitor food expiration dates and food quality daily.
- Weekly classroom inventory and stock replacement of utensils, plates, bowls, etc.
- Monthly major clean-up of kitchen, refrigerators, cabinets on non-program days.
- Document and report any missing items, incorrect deliveries, or food safety concerns immediately.
- Maintains food inventories, equipment inventories and keeps inventory records.
- Support the center during renewal of license, CACFP, health inspections, or other special events.
- Practice safety procedures in the kitchen always.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
Experience
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous food service or kitchen experience required.
- ServSafe Food Handler certification is required.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work with co-workers and adapt to change.
- Ability to problem solve and compute basic food measurements and portion sizing.
- Knowledge of quantity food production, use and care of food service equipment, procedures for receiving and storing foods, and health and safety rules.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Must meet all childcare licensing requirements, including background checks and health screenings.
