Role Summary:
Provides security for persons and property on any KRI property. Serves as a deterrent against illegal activity and investigates incidents related to illegal activity and/or security issues.
What To Expect In The Role
- Deter and investigate any criminal activity, breach of King Ranch policy, accident, or property loss which occurs on King Ranch property (or otherwise assigned).
- Assist any employee, shareholder, guest, or any other individual on King Ranch with medical or other emergency needs.
- Serve as liaison to other local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies and maintain communicative, professional, and cordial relationships.
- Possess sound judgment, a cool demeanor, and an ability to handle and diffuse potentially dangerous situations in a non-threatening and safe manner.
- As per King Ranch policy regarding access, cooperate with and assist any law enforcement agency requiring entry onto King Ranch property.
- Work with our neighbors and our lessees to jointly solve problems and maintain amicable relationships.
- Perform other duties as needed, including but not limited to cutting brush, fighting fires, assisting in controlled burns, building, or repairing fences, guiding hunts and other physical labor.
- Understand the role of the security officer in maintaining peace, tranquility, safety, and the quality of life for all stakeholders on King Ranch property.
- Must be able to investigate and file criminal cases and handle civil disturbances.
- Must develop professional working relationship with all residents, lessees, and other stakeholders operating on the Division to which assigned.
- Must be able to work special events, both on and off King Ranch as needed and assigned.
- Must have a working understanding of the King Ranch Security Handbook policies and guidelines and assist in updates as may be required from time to time.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years related experience.
- Certified Texas Peace Officer and in good standing with TCOLE
- Ability to interact effectively, diplomatically, and professionally with the public, coworkers, employees and colony residents, shareholders and guests, lessees, contractors, and other individuals who may be on King Ranch either legally or illegally.
- Demonstrate proficiency with various firearms, but especially handguns.
- Write detailed reports, operate GPS, a telephone and 2-way radio.
- Certified or obtain certification through the Texas Private Security Board.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED Certified within the first 3 months of employment.
- Willingness and ability to become a certified instructor in Hunter Education, License to Carry, Personal Protection, and/or other firearm, security, safety, or related fields as may be assigned from time to time.
- Driver’s license, the ability to be an approved driver for the company and to safely operate a wide variety of vehicles.
- Functional knowledge of the Spanish language within one year of employment.
- Basic computer skills for applications including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Working understanding of local, state, and federal law, including current Texas Parks and Wildlife regulations.
- Good sense of direction and place and have complete familiarity with all King Ranch Divisions.
- Multiple tasks and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Work holidays and weekends and long hours when required.
- Physically fit and able to pursue suspects on foot.
- Reside on King Ranch unless otherwise approved by VP/GM of Ranching and Wildlife.
