Peer Support Services Overview
Peer Support Services promote recovery, self-determination, and community integration through structured, participant-focused support. Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) use their lived experience to teach coping skills, foster independence, and assist with accessing resources and responding to crises. They collaborate with other providers while emphasizing recovery-oriented, strengths-based approaches.
Essential Functions
- Conduct outreach to connect clients with agency services.
- Facilitate weekly community visits and support participants in various settings.
- Deliver recovery-focused services aligned with peer support principles and ethics.
- Assist participants in identifying barriers, accessing resources, and achieving goals.
- Model recovery values and teach skills for self-advocacy, social interactions, and community inclusion.
- Respond to crises and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure participant safety.
- Promote wellness, resilience, and personal responsibility using shared lived experiences.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED and NC Peer Support Certification.
- Knowledge of mental health/substance use disorders and recovery principles.
- Flexible, willing to work in non-traditional environments, and adhere to agency and state standards.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.50 - $19.00 per hour
