Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in connecting shippers with carriers, ensuring the smooth transportation of goods while maintaining strong relationships with clients and service providers. As a Broker Assistant you are responsible for supporting a high volume freight broker in the day-to-day sales and logistics tasks. You will learn the ins and outs of our company and help support our business growth and team growth.
Duties
- Collaborate with the freight broker to maintain strong relationships with current customers and build connections with potential clients.
- Plan and coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules for freight in collaboration with carriers and customers.
- Communicate effectively with carriers to ensure timely and efficient transportation of goods.
- Utilize tracking systems to monitor the status of shipments.
- Assist with creation of new processes that will help better organize the team and lead to more efficiencies/analysis of loads.
- Provide regular updates and reports to customers on the progress of their freight.
- Collaborate with support staff to address any billing or dispatch issues related to the broker's book of business.
- Ensure accuracy in invoicing and assist in the resolution of any discrepancies.
- Respond promptly to all customer and carrier inquiries, providing necessary information and updates as required.
Requirements
- Experience in logistics preferred
- Excellent operational, business development, and sales skills
- Ability to think critically with strong analytical and problem solving skills is a must
- Ability to focus in a stimulating and hectic environment
- Highly organized and personable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer and math skills
