Job Title: Laborer Grounds Maintenance Seasonal
Department: Base Operations and Support
Job Summary:
The Laborer supports the operations of their department by performing various manual tasks, loading and unloading materials, and preparing job sites. They use hand tools, operate machinery, and assist crews with other necessary tasks. This includes supporting the grounds maintenance team in the care of the landscape of the site by performing routine upkeep, such as mowing the grass, trimming shrubbery, weeding, pressure washing and sweeping walkways, and watering plants when the weather is dry. You may use a variety of tools, such as a power mower or a rake, to complete your duties, in addition to occasional preventative maintenance on the facilities. The work requires a well-rounded individual with several years of landscaping or cleaning experience. Our ideal candidate already has prior groundskeeping experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Perform various manual tasks
- Maintain landscaping and grounds around designated areas
- Mows lawns, trims weeds, and rakes leaves
- Prepares soil and maintain bedding
- Plant and maintain flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs
- Perform preventative maintenance on indoor and outdoor facilities
- Clean all pedestrian surfaces and walls
- Performs routine maintenance on power equipment
- Proficient in written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
- Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments
- Excellent time management skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of related experience required
- Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
- Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
- Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
- Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
- Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
- Must have a valid drivers license
