What are the responsibilities and job description for the 26-27 Substitute Teacher/Substitute Paraprofessional position at King George County Schools?
Substitute candidates will be asked to complete the trainings listed below as well as attend an in-person training as part of the onboarding process.
Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition - Print certificate.
Behavior Intervention and Support - Complete all modules and print certificate.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher or paraprofessional.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies.
- Evidence of exemplary human relation skills.
- Evidence of exemplary organizational and planning skills.
- Evidence of ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises student in a variety of school-related settings.
- Monitors and evaluates student outcomes.
- Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of children.
- Teaches or assists in lessons and duties outlined in the absent teacher's lesson plans or as directed by the teacher if serving in a paraprofessional role.
- Assumes responsibility for pupil behavior in class, during lunch and recess periods, and during fire or other disaster drills.
- Possesses an ability to work effectively with students at all levels and to establish and maintain good rapport while working closely with other teacher and administrators.

Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate - $120.00
Substitute Paraprofessional Daily Rate - $100.00
Long Term teacher Assignment Daily Rates:
High School Diploma/Associate's - $158.00
Bachelor's/Master's/Doctorate - $186.00
Licensed Teacher (Current VA License) - $211.00
