Join our team! The Facilities Management Division (FMD) is seeking a Project/Program Manager III to manage and grow FMD’s employee training and development program and to support the agency’s Equity, Racial and Social Justice (ERSJ) efforts. Given FMD’s focus on equity across the division and FMD’s majority front-line staff, including trades, custodians, utility workers, and security officers, it is crucial that FMD manages a thoughtful, equitable and comprehensive training and development program that effectively reaches and supports all levels of the staff, including supervisory staff. This position will work closely with agency leadership, the FMD ERSJ Change Team, and cross-functionally with members of FMD’s various sections to develop, support, and implement county, department, and FMD ESJ strategies across the division, including the existing internship program.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability to:

  • Manage, coordinate, and improve the FMD employee training and development program for an agency made up of a wide range of classifications, including field staff and office workers.
  • Work closely with agency leadership, Human Resources, and the training program committee to further build out the division’s training and development program, including: establish training program goals, maintain program and budget-related policies, coordinate communications and outreach plans, develop evaluation methods, and generally ensure program refinement.
  • Work with agency leadership and Human Resources to develop management and leadership training for the division’s supervisors.
  • Work with frontline supervisors to provide career guidance to all staff in alignment with division employee development goals.
  • Serve as a member of the FMD ESJ Change Team which is responsible for planning, leading, and assessing program activities to effectively move the division’s ERSJ work plans forward, including:
    1. ERSJ Town Hall and training production
    2. ERSJ BEAT Assessments (internal evaluation process)
    3. ERSJ Workplan development and execution
  • Manage, coordinate, and help to grow the FMD internship program
  • Build, maintain, and support collaborative relationships related to the training and development program across the division and department,
  • Lead section/division-wide communications on challenging topics related to equity and race,
  • Teach colleagues to facilitate challenging topics related to equity and race.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience managing an employee training program for a diverse staff, including train-the-trainer models
  • Experience working with agency leadership to develop program goals and implementation strategies
  • Ability to coordinate, perform outreach, and implement programs across diverse lines of business using change management methodologies
  • Experience working with diverse groups to ensure program meets varied and wide sets of needs
  • Ability to interface and communicate successfully with employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences  
  • Strong communications background, including excellent writing and oral presentation skills
  • Knowledge of or experience in the implementation of equity and social justice principles/strategies (or related areas) across a large organization
  • Ability to explain equity and social justice concepts (or similar concepts) in clear, plain language and to a diverse group of people
  • Skill in program planning, evaluation, advocacy and promotion.
  • Ability to implement strategies and ideas of management into actionable plans and implement appropriate solutions
  • Ability to form and maintain constructive work relationships

  • This position is considered Non-Mission Critical which means that you perform functions which can be delayed in the event of an emergency.
  • The standard schedule will be Monday – Friday between the operating hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. 
  • This position will require onsite reporting at least 3 days per week to the King County Chinook Building, 401 5th Ave., Seattle, WA 98104.
  • This position is non-represented.
  • This position is FLSA exempt and not eligible for overtime.
