In addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Teen Leader vacancies within the Parks division over the next six months.Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? White Center Community Center and Skyway Communities are looking for enthusiastic and positive individuals to join us as Teen Leaders. In this role, you’ll actively supervise recreational activities and programs that inspire and engage youth, teens, and families. From teaching games, arts and crafts, athletics, and organizing special events, you’ll foster creativity and connection in a variety of settings—indoors, outdoors, and even in inclement weather. This is your chance to be on the front lines, helping to improve the quality of life for underserved communities in King County.We are seeking 5 Teen Leaders to supervise recreation programs with teens ages 12-19 at Steve Cox Memorial Park in White Center and West Hill Community in Skyway. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
What You Will Be Doing: Plan, organize, implement, and monitor teen activities, assisting in the delivery of engaging and structured programs.Interact positively with participants, building rapport, learning names, and serving as a supportive role model.Maintain a safe and inclusive environment by proactively resolving conflicts and enforcing Teen Program rules and King County policies.Represent King County Parks professionally when engaging with youth, parents, school and agency personnel, and the broader community.Confidently lead structured programs independently or as a co-leader, following best practices and program policies to ensure a positive experience for all participants.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work Location: Steve Cox Memorial Park - 1321 SW 102nd St, Seattle, WA 98146, West Hill Community Center - 12400 80th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98178.Work Schedule: Available shifts include Tuesday - Saturday – Friday from 3-8pm, 10-15 hours a week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.Union Representation: This position is not represented by a union.Duration: This recruitment aims to fill a Short-Term Temporary (STT) position working up to 960 hours per year. NOTE: King County employees can only hold one position at a time, i.e., holding multiple temporary positions or a regular position and a temporary position at the same time is not permitted.We welcome applications from all qualified applicants.
