Construction Estimator – Commercial Construction
Location: Ankeny, IA
Experience: 5 Years Required
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team in Ankeny, Iowa. This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial construction projects and supporting the pre-construction process from bid through turnover.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects
Perform quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and design documents
Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing
Work closely with project managers and leadership during pre-construction
Identify scope gaps, risks, and cost-saving opportunities
Assist with budgets, value engineering, and bid strategy
Maintain estimating data and historical cost information
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in the construction industry
Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and materials
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Commercial construction experience
Experience with self-performed work (carpentry, concrete, steel, or similar)
Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar takeoff software
