Overview
The Territory Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and growing an assigned sales territory while supporting relationships with referral sources, healthcare providers, patients, and business partners. The position maintains the territory’s existing book of business, identifies new opportunities, and develops a strong understanding of the Company’s products and services. The role may also provide patient-facing services, including the delivery, setup, fitting, and instruction of medical equipment, based on business and territory needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and grow the assigned territory’s existing book of business through sales, marketing, referral development, account maintenance, and customer service.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with physicians, therapists, clinics, supplier representatives, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in sales calls, referral outreach, product in-services, clinic events, and trade shows to increase awareness of the Company’s products and services.
- Evaluate patient needs in relation to disease, functional loss, and prescribed treatment, and select and size appropriate equipment or devices.
- Properly fit and adjust soft goods, bracing, bone growth stimulators, and other products provided in clinics or patient homes.
- Educate patients on the proper donning and doffing, use, cleaning, care, maintenance, and warranty of equipment and devices.
- Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed regarding patient needs, equipment, and follow-up.
- Collect patient demographic information and supporting documentation needed to dispense equipment and bill insurance.
- Complete all required patient, account, sales, and operational documentation accurately and timely.
- Understand the billing process sufficiently to educate facilities and patients and respond to related questions.
- Respond to customer, facility, and patient questions, concerns, and problems of moderate to complex scope.
- Maintain knowledge of Company products, services, availability, fitting requirements, patient instructions, follow-up procedures, and required patient paperwork.
- Follow all applicable safety requirements, OSHA standards, universal precautions, infection-control procedures, and Company policies.
- Participate in cross-training and assist with additional territory, service, patient, or operational needs, as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, relationship-building, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain assigned territory.
- Knowledge of orthotics, anatomy and physiology, pathologies, biomechanics, and related medical equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and web-based tools.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business materials, professional journals, technical procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, patient documentation, and procedural materials.
- Ability to interpret and follow instructions provided in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
Preferred, but not required:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree.
- At least one year of practical experience involving orthotics, prosthetics, durable medical equipment, or a related field.
- Prior medical sales or territory-management experience.
- Experience providing patient education, equipment fittings, or healthcare-related customer service.

- $100,000 per person bodily injury liability
- $300,000 per incident bodily injury liability
- $50,000 property damage liability
- $1,000 or less deductible on collision insurance, if you carry collision insurance on your vehicles.
- $1,000 or less deductible on comprehensive insurance, if you carry comprehensive insurance on your vehicle
