Business Development Manager – Northwest US
Location: Bay Area, California (covering Northern California, Oregon, Washington, and surrounding states)
I’m partnering with a fast-growing biotech company at the forefront of cutting-edge molecular detection instruments and assay kits. They are looking to hire a Business Development Manager to drive commercial growth across the Northwest US, with a focus on the Bay Area and extending through Oregon and Washington.
This is a high-impact, customer-facing role in which you will combine your scientific expertise with commercial acumen to help leading researchers and organisations adopt cutting-edge molecular detection instruments and assay kits.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop and execute a territory sales strategy to meet and exceed revenue targets.
- Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities across academic, biotech, and pharma customers.
- Act as the trusted scientific advisor, delivering product demonstrations, presentations, and supporting adoption of innovative molecular detection solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with scientists, lab managers, and procurement teams.
- Collaborate closely with Field Application Scientists and Marketing teams to drive product adoption and launches.
- Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and scientific events, showcasing the technology to key stakeholders.
Who we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Chemistry, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in life science instrumentation or consumables sales.
- Proven track record in capital equipment sales cycles and developing long-term customer relationships.
- Strong understanding of assay workflows, fluorescence-based techniques, or molecular detection technologies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to manage a regional territory independently.
- Based in the Bay Area, with willingness to travel 40–50% across the Northwest region.
