Job Title: KP Mentor
Kinetic Potential (KP) is a mission driven for-profit organization, based in the Washington, DC area, that has a tremendous opportunity to expand its occupational skills training and community service offerings throughout the United States. The firm is preparing for significant growth and seeking KP Mentors to provide onsite support for people with disabilities and youth participating in KP’s K12 and Community Supports Program.
Background & Program Description
The KP Mentor is a member of the delivery team responsible for supporting the delivery of services for the mentorship of 5-10 K12 students or individuals with disabilities and successful implementation/administration of KP’s workforce development, community supports or K12 programs. KP Mentors develop positive mentoring relationships with participants and forge a team-based work environment that motivates individuals to give their maximum effort in pursuit of their desired career goals. KP Mentors perform a variety of functions often in conjunction with a KP Talent Advisor or other KP Mentor.
Roles & Responsibilities
The ultimate measure of success for a KP Mentor is participant attendance and performance in the associated KP Program. KP Mentors receive ongoing professional development in the areas of Customer Service, Technology (i.e., CRM, CMS, KP Mentoring and Learning Platform), Marketing, Community Supports and Youth Services. KP Mentors are responsible for identifying additional activities / resources for
participants that build skills that prepare individuals for careers with high earning potential.
- Support Lead Executive in managing and supporting a team of 5-10 individuals throughout the duration of the program (including office admin support, teaching support, minor medical support).
- Provide program administration—scheduling sessions, supporting transportation, capturing participant attendance, maintaining student records, building the capacity of team members and ensuring readiness of technical
- Engage with parents / officials on the progress of participants and action plans to improve performance.
- Ensure you are certified internally and externally per requirements.
Qualifications:
- Must be residing in Connecticut
- Passionate about community development and workforce issues for individuals facing barriers (i.e., low income, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and others)
- Ability to mentor and inspire youth to Want More. Do More. Be More.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Current college student, educator, nurse or community member that is comfortable with technology and distance learning services
- Help the students understand that their performance in this training program will be evaluated as part of the decision-making process for employment with KP and/or KP Network Partners.
- Previous experience in the area of community service, social work, nursing, medical administration or personal care assistance highly desirable
- Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations
- Able to provide a positive example to students by supporting KP Mission.
