Job Title: Service Center Sales Representative/Specialist

Report To: Lending Manager

Classification: Hourly/Non-exempt

Rotating Hourly Shift: 8:30am - 5pm, 9am - 5:30pm, 9:30am- 6pm.

Location: In-person at the 13th Street branch in Columbus, GA

General Purpose

Demonstrates a highly motivated, positive, outgoing, influential personality with a strong emphasis on sales and results orientation to ensure the credit union maximizes lending and sales opportunities with members who apply for credit over the phone or on-line. Consistently demonstrates the ability to think independently, outside the box, by effectively responding to each individual member’s unique situation; not stuck in a mass production box. Commands a thorough knowledge of the lending process from application to closing to ensure maximum funding rates. Demonstrates an unsurpassed commitment to exceptional member service and teamwork that ensures an outstanding experience with each encounter. Is fully knowledgeable of all credit union products and services and is able to confidently offer appropriate solutions to fit member needs. Is able to clearly and effectively communicate with members and all levels of staff in oral and written form and is proficient with applicable technology.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Uses strong interpersonal skills and influence to consistently achieve sales goals. Overcomes objections with persuasion and persistence.
  • Displays confidence in presenting appropriate solutions to fit members’ needs. Maximizes opportunities to sell Kinetic products and services to benefit the member and enhance quality and depth of member relationship and profitability.
  • Is keenly aware of personal, team, departmental and company goals and is able to prioritize work to achieve funding goals. Demonstrates the ability to excel in high stress environment and is able to meet goals and deadlines. Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles to maintain above average closing ratios.
  • Demonstrates an unsurpassed commitment to exceptional member service that ensures a great experience with each encounter. Views situations from the member’s perspective to effectively respond to their needs and concerns, often going above and beyond the initial need or expressed concern of the member. Explains recommendations, products and services in ways members can easily understand.
  • Actively and consistently seeks qualified opportunities to increase loan volume and residual product penetration, including VSA, GAP and Credit Life/Credit Disability.
  • Persuasive and confident communicator. Uses clear and simple language to communicate information and decisions to internal and external members. Explains recommendations in ways members can easily understand.
  • Builds rapport with fellow teammates and credit union staff. Demonstrates genuine concern for others and shares personal expertise with peers. Displays flexibility regarding scheduling.
  • Remains current on changes within the legal, regulatory, economic, competitive and technology environments that may affect the consumer lending program.
  • Properly maintains loan/account information on computer as well as follow-up paperwork.
  • Enters appropriate, accurate, and informative notes in the loan application to ensure the underwriter has all the necessary data for timely and appropriate decisions.
  • Answers member questions about consumer lending. Provides book value, loan payoffs and loan rates to members. Explains disbursal of loan proceeds to members. Reviews payment schedule so that member understands repayment obligation.
  • Completes SAR (Suspicious Activity Report) when applicable according to policies and procedures set forth by Kinetic Credit Union, in accordance to BSA/AML regulations, and turns over to appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  • Ensure information security protocol at all times; properly securing documentation as required.
  • Understands and adheres to all Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering policies and procedures set in place to ensure compliance and attends annual training.
  • Responsible for completing Information Security Awareness training as directed by management.
  • Responsible for complying with GLBA, Safe Act, Regs B, D, E, CC, Z and other regulatory requirements
  • Participates in the Community Involvement goals of the credit union.

Additional Duties/Responsibilities

  • Calculates loan payments. Prepares loans for management review, if needed. Determines loan value of collateral used to secure loan.
  • Counsels’ members on financial matters regarding their loan request and/or to enhance their financial status.
  • Responsible for knowing all aspects of the credit union’s product line and services including rates, terms, and fees. Is fully familiar with and able to clearly communicate with internal and external members about: underwriting philosophies, lending decisions (approved, denied or conditioned), approval stipulations, loan products and services, credit bureau reports and scores, credit histories, applicable Federal regulations, loan and deposit rates, and lending policies and procedures.
  • Proactive in pursuing all opportunities through various applicant channels –Phone Queue, On-Line Applications, Referral Contacts, etc.; with follow up within stated time frames.
  • Maintains tracking of assigned goals as assigned to accurately report and assess performance.
  • Promotes the credit union through contact with members, vendors, and prospective members.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high service level rating on shops of 95% or higher.
  • Responsible for maintaining a current Learning Action Plan in conjunction with the Performance Management System.
  • Performs additional duties as directed by management.
Requirements:
  • This position requires a high school diploma or the equivalent, and a commensurate level of language, math and reasoning skills.
  • In addition, one year of experience in a sales environment is preferred.
  • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of the credit union’s consumer lending policies and procedures, products and services, laws and regulations.
  • Excellent sales, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required.
  • Formal training should be supplemented with continuing education.
  • Must be able to communicate and interact professionally with all levels of credit union leadership as well as staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This is not a supervisory position (no direct or indirect reports).


Technology Requirements

  • Employees must have smartphone (iOS or Android) to access company applications for tasks and security purposes. Employees must install and use designated apps for access control and two-factor authentication to access company systems.


Work Environment /Physical Activities

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule between 8:30am -6pm. Over-time, Saturday and holiday hours are as needed, based on company need.
  • This position requires limited physical effort. It is basically a desk assignment.
  • The ability to read small print and color vision may also be required.
  • The employee is regularly required to listen/hear or talk.
  • The job calls for a high degree of mental concentration to interpret and act upon a wide range of situations.
  • The job requires a degree of attention to details.
  • Job requires access to credit union’s network and core data processing system.
  • Core system roles are assigned by Divisional Vice President.
