KindVet of Sarasota Urgent Care is currently looking for a skilled, empathetic, and motivated Veterinary Technician to become a part of our dedicated team The ideal applicant will be passionate about animal health and capable of supporting veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical care in a fast-paced urgent care environment. This role is essential to promoting the health and comfort of our animal patients while also supporting their owners.


Work Schedule

    Core Responsibilities of All KindVet Urgent Care Team Members

    All team members are expected to:

    • Show sincere care and empathy for pets and their owners while communicating clearly and effectively
    • Provide excellent client service to foster a warm, secure environment
    • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable with basic computer functions
    • Be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and remain active on their feet throughout the workday
    • Adhere to all applicable health and safety regulations, including OSHA and DEA requirements, and notify supervisors of any compliance issues
    • Stay informed about the products and medications used and be able to communicate their proper use to clients
    • Understand that veterinary care involves certain occupational risks (e.g., exposure to radiation, anesthesia, and animals under stress) and follow all safety procedures accordingly
    • Have a general understanding of the clinic’s operations beyond their specific role

  • Key Duties of a Veterinary Technician

    The responsibilities below represent the standard expectations for this role, though the list is not exhaustive:

    • Accurately obtain and record patient histories
    • Perform initial patient triage and record vital signs on intake
    • Clearly present and review treatment plans and estimates with clients
    • Collect samples and conduct basic in-house laboratory tests as directed
    • Support veterinarians during diagnostic procedures, surgeries, and other treatments using advanced equipment
    • Capture, process, and submit radiographs as needed
    • Dispense and administer medications as prescribed
    • Provide IV fluid therapy under veterinary supervision
    • Deliver attentive nursing care to animals in recovery or with medical conditions
    • Set up and prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and patients for procedures
    • Ensure all monitoring equipment (e.g., anesthesia machines, ECGs, warming devices) is functioning properly
    • Assist with the safe administration and monitoring of anesthesia
    • Maintain and sterilize tools, machines, and surgical environments
    • Communicate clearly with pet owners about post-treatment care, medications, and patient needs
    • Promote teamwork and uphold the high standards of medical care at KindVet of Sarasota
    • Utilize veterinary medical software for accurate recordkeeping
    • Take on other duties as reasonably assigned
