What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Fitness Instructor - Strength Classes position at Kindred Yoga?
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Fitness Instructor with a knowledge of functional training, a commitment to inclusivity, and an appreciation for mindful movement to lead Mindful Strength classes at our studio. We are specifically looking for availability on Monday and Thursday nights. Please only apply if you can make this work.
Kindred Yoga is primarily yoga based, but we've recently expanded our offerings to strenght training sessions that maintain the mindful vibe that we teach in yoga.
Our Mindful Strength classes use light weights and repetition of functional strength movements with awareness of breath. We encourage participants to move at their own pace and offer movement choices for everyone.
With this opportunity comes the potential to be scheduled for personal training sessions, if you have your personal training certification.
Responsibilities
- Ability to make personal connections with participants and build relationships over time. We are a community, and are looking for someone who truly wants to be part of that community.
- Develop safe, creative programs for participants.
- Educate clients on proper body mechanics, exercise techniques, and safety protocols to prevent injuries.
- Assist participants in adapting or modifying exercises as needed.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in fitness and wellness to enhance program offerings.
- Foster a positive and mindful environment that encourages participation and honoring each individual's body.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sports coaching or as a fitness instructor in a gym or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, body mechanics, and program design principles.
- Ability to lead group fitness classes with enthusiasm and professionalism.
- Certifications in relevant areas such as Yoga are a bonus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate clients effectively.
- A passion for health, wellness, and helping others achieve their fitness goals.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
