What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at Kindle Energy?
Kindle Energy Management Company LLC (“Kindle”), a portfolio company of the private equity firm, The Blackstone Group L.P. (“Blackstone”), specializes in the management, optimization, and development of power generation in the United States and Canada. Kindle is currently assisting with recruiting for the role of Director of Coal Operations at Gavin Power Station, a facility that Kindle manages for Gavin Power LLC, located in Cheshire Ohio. This position will report to the Kindle Portfolio Operations Team and may require travel of >50%.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Asset Manager in driving operational performance at Gavin Power LLC
- Lead the implementation of standard operating procedures and associated training and audit programs to ensure ongoing compliance
- Lead facility assessments and identify opportunities for program improvements
- Drive operational initiatives and ensure operational readiness for the Facility Sponsors
- Evaluate historical portfolio performance and assist in establishing operational goals that align with portfolio objectives and drive operational performance, develop tools to improve real time performance trending, and develop corrective action and performance improvement plans
- Establish and monitor operating expectations
- Ensure appropriate technical and engineering programs are implemented and maintained to drive continuous improvement
- Lead budgeting and project financial analyses to ensure alignment with Sponsor goals and successful execution
- Mentor facility staff
- Support ad hoc performance and procedure adherence analyses
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; MBA, or equivalent, preferred
- 15 years of power generation experience; preferrable directly related to power plant operations
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience required in the management, development, and/or scoping of complex projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex business initiatives in the energy sector with experience in electric wholesale markets
- Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint as it pertains to building standardized reports, operational performance analysis and professional presentations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences, including upper management, investors, and plant personnel
- Demonstrated computer competency

Salary : $250,000 - $280,000
