Position Summary
Kind Lending is automating the loan lifecycle end to end, and that effort lives or dies on how well the work is planned. As our Mortgage Technology Product Owner, you are the bridge between the business and the engineering Pods: you own the product vision and roadmap, turn business goals into a clean, prioritized backlog, and hand developers user stories they can build from on day one. You define the “what” and the “why” so the Pods can move fast on the “how,” and you keep every release aligned to customer needs, business goals, and the regulatory reality of lending.
Responsibilities
Kind Lending's technology team builds AI-first, and the Product Owner sets work up to take full advantage of it. A clean, well-structured backlog is exactly what lets our AI coding agents pick up an issue and build it, so the way you write and scope stories directly multiplies how fast the Pods ship. You do not need to write code, but you do need to understand how AI-assisted, agentic development works and how to plan for it.
Qualifications
The starting base pay for this position is $125k/annually. The actual base is dependent on many factors such as: work experience, business needs, market demands, and other compensation components. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Responsibilities
- Own the product strategy: define the vision, roadmap, and priorities for Kind's mortgage technology, keeping them aligned with business goals, customer needs, and where the industry is heading.
- Create and manage a well-prioritized backlog with clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and deliverables that the development Pods can pick up and build without guesswork.
- Partner across IT, engineering, operations, compliance, and the business so mortgage technology ships seamlessly from origination through servicing.
- Gather feedback from internal stakeholders, customers, and industry partners, and turn it into product improvements that meet real market needs.
- Ensure solutions comply with relevant regulatory and security standards (CFPB, TRID, RESPA) and align with internal policy.
- Lead the full product development lifecycle, from ideation through launch, and drive continuous improvement after release.
- Apply Agile and Scrum practices to run sprint planning with the Pods, track progress, and keep delivery on time and on quality.
- Monitor product performance and usage after launch, identify what to optimize and where to scale, and manage technology, compliance, and security risks proactively.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance, or a related field (MBA or equivalent experience preferred).
- 5 years in product management, focused on mortgage technology, financial services, or fintech.
- Strong understanding of mortgage processes and how technology transforms origination, servicing, and compliance.
- Proven experience managing the full product lifecycle, from ideation through implementation and optimization.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum: backlog grooming, sprint planning, and working hands-on with development teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to explain complex technology to non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with mortgage technology platforms (LOS, POS, CRM) and industry-specific software, plus experience with integrations, APIs, or data-driven solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) in a mortgage context, and experience managing third-party technology vendor partnerships.
- Product management certification (CSPO, PMI-ACP) is a plus.
