Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for procedures
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics and endodontics
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols
- Manage patient records using Dentrix to ensure accurate documentation of medical and dental histories
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures
- Maintain strict infection control practices using aseptic techniques and adhere to HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and coordinating with dental reception staff
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting and medical imaging procedures
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and various dental specialties like prosthodontics and endodontics
- Experience with Dentrix or other dental EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Epic for efficient record keeping and documentation
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient information at all times
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other diagnostic tools
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment
