Overview
We are seeking an experienced Optical Lab Operations Manager to lead and optimize eyewear manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for managing team development, ensuring high-quality production standards, and driving operational efficiency in a fast-paced laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical manufacturing, team leadership, and financial management, with a commitment to compliance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of optical laboratory operations, including workflow management, quality control, and production scheduling.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of lab technicians, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Manage equipment procurement, maintenance, and inventory control to optimize resource utilization.
Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards (OSHA, FDA, ANSI).
Design and deliver training programs for staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
Champion quality initiatives and resolve production issues promptly to maintain high member satisfaction.
Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and provide regular reporting to senior leadership.
Promote a safe work environment through regular inspections and proactive safety programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, STEM, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years in optical lab operations (or 11 years in a related field).
Proven leadership experience with direct reports (7 years).
Extensive experience in optical manufacturing, CAM, or eyewear fabrication (5 years).
Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
Knowledge of safety, compliance, inventory control, and lab equipment.
Optician Certification (American Board of Opticianry) and/or Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
Experience in manufacturing and supply chain operations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
