Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the design and preparation of the following substation drawings:
- Substation one-lines and three-lines
- Station general arrangements and sections
- Electrical details
- Grounding plan and details
- Conduit plan and details
- Control cubicle layout, sections, cable tray, lighting, and grounding
- Low-voltage AC panels
- Grounding
- Lightning protection
- Illumination
- Development of bills of materials and general arrangements from substation one-line diagrams
- Coordination with protection and controls, civil/structural, and drafting disciplines to ensure quality deliverables
- Participation in client meetings and site visits for data gathering, as required
- Interpretation and incorporation of vendor information into design deliverables
- Application of client standards related to the work
- Performing and ensuring the company’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are followed for all design packages
- Continuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance
- 8 years of relevant experience in Substation Physical design
- High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred)
- Knowledge of substation design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of technical drawings and models
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
- Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Willingness to mentor and teach others
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
