Overview
Kimley-Horn's Reston, VA office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 8 years of experience to join their Transit team! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
- The selected candidate will contribute to the production and delivery of transit and rail design projects with a particular focus on, but not limited to passenger, commuter, freight, industrial rail, light rail, and bus rapid transit projects.
- Various tasks may include concept through final design, exhibit development, program management responsibilities, railroad coordination, and corridor development.
- This role will require a high degree of multi-disciplinary coordination.
- Strong communication and organizational skills are critical.
- Candidate will be expected to manage or support managing larger projects including overseeing teams, workload, resources and compliance with scope, schedule, budget, quality and financial performance of projects.
- Candidate will participate in client management and marketing efforts including business development and help securing additional work.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
- 8 years of transit-focused engineering experience including:
- Track/guideway design
- Transit corridor design
- Roadway design
- Station design (beneficial)
- Drainage design (beneficial)
- Outgoing, self-motivated team player
- High level of proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or high level of proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads/OpenRail
- Experience communicating and working with clients
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and detail-orientation
- Ability to balance priorities among multiple projects
